Symbiota 2011 Workshop

August 9-10th, Madison, WI

Symbiota is a specimen-based biodiversity portal designed with the central purpose of integrating specimen data with the wealth of existing floristic data and presenting the resource to the public in a virtual flora format. In this workshop, we will provide an introduction to using Symbiota and will cater to Collection Managers, Curators and others administering data for their institution. The workshop will begin with a general overview of how to use the portal from a general users perspective. Participants will then learn more specific details about administrative functions and tools including how to refresh collection's data, modify their metadata, edit records, add new records, load a specimen image, run maintenance scripts, verify and clean taxonomic data, review and approve external specimen record edits, and download new edits.
